August 2, 2007

Somebody shut that blasted thing off! I know how- opening the phone, groggily, saying hello.

Hey Whit! What ya got planned for today?

... I ...uh ... i don't know... (trying to open my eyes to see the clock) why?

I've got great news. I tracked down Jennifer- I met with her the other night, and she's really excited to see you. Get up. Shower. and get down here. You've got one hour-

...Jennifer?? Oh! Jennifer- how'd you....? when did... ?

Get up girl- I'll see you in an 45 minutes. Love you-

....ok dad-... CRAP! Jumping out of bed. Shower, shower, shower.... quickly! quickly! Racing against time, i threw on my cutest outfit. Jeans and a t-shirt of course. Dashing away to the car i fly! Completely flying by the seat of my pants I race to my dad's house.

Greating him with a kiss on the cheek, I ask him the so desired question- HOW? How did you find her? I've been looking for months.

Well hop in the car, and i'll tell you about if on the way over to her house.

You mean, she lives close by? Ya, in Orem actaully, just less than 2 miles from us-

He starts telling me a story of how he had gone back to the original house where Julia, Travis, Blake, and Jennifer had all been staying- and how about the the guy gave him Travis' name... who he called and got Jennifer's info. (I honestly thought this was kinda weird- Julia and Travis had divorsed. Travis was living in a different house. And since Travis was her brother-in-law. I figure'd they'd lose contact)

We pull up to the house.....

2008 flew by

This past year has flown by so fast. It seems like the older i get, the faster time goes.
I have done alot this year, and unfortunatly, i don't remember a whole lot. I went to Washington in Feb. I went to Maui, Hawaii with my family for the third time(2 times when i was 16, and again this year). And i hope we go somewhere exotic again sometime soon.

My life is full of family, friends, and lots and lots of drama. But that makes things interesting, i guess.

preview of my life 2007

In 2007 I came to meet my biological family.

I was raised growing up, knowing that i was adopted.
All of the kids were raised with the knowledge that mom and dad aren't the one's who bring you into this world, but the one's who care for you and raise you. Pretty much, that mom and dad are the one's who raise you. We all agreed. That was the truth, and there was nothing else anyone could say more about it. And we all still believe it today. My mom always told us growing up that we were meant to be her kids, and this was the only way it could happen.

My oldest brother Colby found his biological mom and then dad as a young adult. The birth mother was too overbearing, and wanted him involved in her life, to know everything about him, and everything about his life. Which scared my brother to the point of desiring to have no contact with her ever again. His father wanted nothing to do with him. Which was an easy answer for him. He has chosen to carry on his life without those people in his past. Our mom is our mom. Our dad is our dad. And that's the way it's supposed to be.

My brother Michael and I are a different story. My mom was planning on adopting twins from a couple who backed out at the last minute. It broke her heart. Night upon night she would spend on her knees, praying and fasting. A neighbor girl had just finished going through a divorce with her husband, who had fallen in love, then 7 months later, fell quickly out of love. Her first born was almost 18months and she was in no condition to take care of a baby who was only 7 months along. So she made her decision- to offer her baby girl to a friend in the ward who had recently been heartbroken. As months passed May 29th around 4am, came with a beautiful baby girl who had struggled all through the night. My mom and dad were there to receive me. Meanwhile... in Bucaramunga, Colombia. A small baby boy was found in the streets. Found at about 3 months old, and with a bottle of coffee as a means to feed the starving baby, the baby boy was found and taken to a safe house. As President Insignoris, had tried to help this Colombian baby back to health, he made some calls. With allot of prayer he called my mom and dad, who had just received a baby girl. "Are you interested in this little boy about 3 months old?" he asked. "OF COURSE!" the couple replied. Allot of paperwork later, and about 6 months, my dad flew down to Colombia to pick him up.
We were instant friends. Being bloated from starvation, he struggled with eating. My mom and dad decided the best thing to do, would be to feed us the same amount, so he wouldn't eat, and eat, and over eat. As we grew, mom would feed me, and i would feed him. Ever since, I've been taking care of him. My mom's prayers were answered. We grew up as twins, and would always back each other up. Still do. We help each other through thick and thin, and know we can always confide in each other.

About half way through July 2007, I had discovered a lump in my breast. While visiting the doctor they asked me about my medical history/background in my family... knowing nothing, i quickly filled out the paper and turned it in with a BIG QUESTION MARK taking up the whole page. The secretary turns to me and says, "you know nothing about your family's medical history?" I told her i was adopted and that I had no interest in finding out - that i was more interested in surprises. She smiled, but suggested that i at least find out my medical background- to see if cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, etc could be possible in the future. I decided, with some prayer, that it was a good suggestion, and that i might further my life if i found out now. So that was my quest. To find my biological mom and dad.
I've tried starting a blog since Aug. and because of lack of time and other excuses. I haven't really done anything with this- so be patient as i try to fill this thing up.
